Encryption for matched chats
Chatkode is a random chat app first: pick a temporary name and gender, Match or Skip, and talk in a private one-to-one browser thread. End-to-end encryption protects the message content in that matched chat so it is not intended to be readable in the clear by people outside the conversation — including Chatkode as the service operator.
That pairs with no phone number, browser-first access, and safety tools like Block and Report. You can claim a temporary account within 24 hours if you want to keep chats and friends later.
What encryption does not do
- It does not stop someone who can see your unlocked screen from reading a message.
- It does not stop a recipient from copying, forwarding, or photographing what they receive.
- It does not make you anonymous if you choose a recognizable name or later claim with email or Google.
- It is not a claim of third-party audit or certification — we explain practices clearly instead of inventing badges.
For shared devices, combine encryption with app lock and hidden chats.
